Scientific name: Diospyros kaki
Product Features: Grown since the eighty century in China and Japan, where it originated. Taking into account the growing conditions of its area of origin, it was introduced into Western countries. This occurred recently in two slopes: US in the early nineteenth century and in France, Spain and Italy around 1870. The pulp is very astringent until it is ripe, at which point it tastes sweet.
